Tool #11 Reflection

I really liked all the tools we learned during this training. The tools that I liked the most and I am going to use during my instruction are: the apps for the Ipod Touch where students can practice in fun way skills taught. Pretty sure they will love it!!! and also Photo Story where they can create their own stories using visual and auditory support.

I am really excited about incorporating these tools into my lessons!!!

Tool #11

Here are 3 things I consider are important for my students to understand about being a good digital citizenship:
Today, we need to teach students how to use Internet appropriately and for that I will create rules at the beginning of the year on how to use technology responsibly. I will use Brainpop to show my students how a good digital citizenship looks like.
All kids need to stay safe online. I will tell my students that they do not have to share personal information. They have to be cautious of the online strangers.
Students need to know how to search for accurate information.

Tool #10

Last week I attended the Ipod Touch training in the District. I was really amazed of all the free apps available for our students to practice skills that are taught in the classroom.

I found many apps that I would love to use in my classroom during the independent practice, two of them are:

1) Math Tappers: this is a math game to help children learn to read clocks.
2) Math Tappers, Find sum: this is a math game to help children learn addition and subtraction facts.

Tool #9

I’ve used Skype before to communicate with family and friends in Venezuela. This is nice tool to use when students are not in attendance and you do not want them to miss the lesson. Students can receive the lesson from home!!
Jing is another useful tool. We can add visuals to our conversations, lessons, and projects and then share them with others.

Tool #8

I think the use of video resources get the students motivated and engaged. It also helps to reinforce concepts being taught.

This is a nice video giving examples of line of symmetry

This is also a great video to introduce measurement

Tool #7

I like the idea of using Photo Story to help students who struggle with sequencing and attention. These students can create their own stories using visuals and auditory support and then retell and sequence events.

Tool #6

Wiki is another cool tool that can be used in the writing process. Students can work as a group and revise and edit projects they are working on. We can share lots of information with other teachers too.
